Hardly any other topic has made such an impact on our society in recent years as sustainability. Now everybody in our recent society seems to be aware of the impact, mass production and an unsustainable lifestyle has on our environment. This is exactly where the concept of Nike's "Crater-Pack" and the slogan »Move To Zero« comes into play. The goal is to reduce CO2 emissions and waste products in order to secure the future of sports and the survival of our planet.
TRASH TRANSFORMED
By recycling waste products in the manufacture of new products, Nike Sportswear is able to reduce the amount of waste and at the same time improve its carbon footprint. For that matter, the soles of old running shoes are collected and processed to be reused in the production process of new sneakers.
INNOVATIVE MATERIALS
The goal of a better future can only be achieved by the use and development of the most innovative materials. Due to this, Nike has collected more than 7 billion plastic bottles which were used for the production of polyester. The trend in cotton production is also clearly shifting towards sustainability, as specially certified organic cotton was used for the Air Force 1, Air Max 90 and Daybreak-Type of the »Crater-Pack«. This sustainable blend then creates a performance material that requires less emissions and raw materials than conventional polyester blends.
