»I steal for a living« is not just one of the most known quotes from Warren Beatty as Clyde Barrow in the Blockbuster »Bonny & Clyde«, it is also a common thing with Walter »Clyde« Frazier, one of the biggest Basketball stars in the 60s and 70s. His nickname was made of his team colleagues from the New York Knicks, because of his big hats and his casual way to dress.
While Warren Barry, as a US-American Gangster rob banks and supermarkets, Frazier was not that criminal, he just stole the ball from his opponents in the most unexpected moments.
Frazier, who was seen in PUMAS from the beginning of his career, asked for a wider version of his favorite silhouette for his wide feet. So, PUMA made his wish come true and created 1973 the first ever known Basketball-Signature-Model. The PUMA Clyde, made out of combed suede and a golden »Clyde« lettering on the lateral side, became a blockbuster within a short time. Until today, this iconic silhouette have neither charm nor style to lose.
